In this week’s Fungicide Resistance Management Minute, we hear from Daniel Abruzzini on the importance of fungicides and some exciting developments.

Q: Daniel, Corteva’s got something new coming out.

A: Yeah, we’re working on a lot of new fungicides like Corteva. We have a current portfolio of Fontellis and others that are really strong products. But, we do have some coming down the pipeline that we’re expecting for registration probably in about 2026. And so those new funding sites that actually will be a new FRAC group for us and which is pretty exciting. And for the Pacific Northwest, it’ll be really good on early blight and white mold and potatoes.  On other crops like wine grapes is looking really good on powdery mildew and botrytis as well. As you go down the coast, if you are growing almonds, it also looks really good for bloom time diseases and those crops as well.

Q: So, what kind of losses can growers see if they don’t protect their crops?

A: You know, it’s hard to say. I mean, if left untreated it could be hugely damaging to the crop. You get anywhere from minimal damage to complete crop loss. It’s really important to scout the fields, choose the proper fungicide, choose the proper FRAC groups for the diseases that you’re targeting, and then, apply them preventatively. Try to get ahead of them. If you’re trying to play catch-up, fungicides don’t work as well, so it’s really important to scout fields properly and make proper applications prior to disease events happening.

Q: For growers who want to find out more, what’s the best way that they can do that?

A: Corteva has a website and if you go to Corteva.us/fungicideresistance you can get more information on all the products I mentioned today and some of the new products we have coming out in the future.

Thank you for all the information. That was Daniel Abruzzini with this week’s ‘Fungicide Resistance Management Minute’ brought to you by Corteva.
