Meet the AgNet West Team

Sabrina Halvorson
National Correspondent

Sabrina Halvorson is an award-winning journalist, broadcaster, and public speaker who specializes in agriculture. Having spent most of her life in California’s ag-centric Central Valley, she now divides her time between the Golden State and the Peace Garden State of North Dakota.

Halvorson has been an active member of associations such as North American Agricultural Journalists, AAEA-The Ag Communicators’ Network, the Radio, Television, Digital News Association, and the National Association of Farm Broadcasting, where she served two terms on the Board of Directors. She was selected in 2020 for participation in Trusting News, a project of the Reynolds Journalism Institute and the American Press Institute which aims to “empower journalists to take responsibility for actively demonstrating credibility and earning trust.”

Danielle Leal
Multi-Media Journalist & AgNet News Hour Anchor

Born and raised in the agriculture-rich community of Tulare County, Danielle Leal learned to appreciate the industry early in life. As a member of the Tulare Western FFA, she showed pigs at the Tulare County fair. After graduating from Fresno State with a degree in broadcast journalism, Leal went back to her roots to write for a hometown newspaper covering several beats including business, local events and agriculture.

Though Leal wasn’t born into an agricultural family, she did fall in love with a farmer. Her husband’s family runs a diversified farming operation where they grow almonds, pistachios and alfalfa, corn and wheat for their 1,300 head Holstein dairy. Leal is also a member of the California Women for Agriculture.

Brian German
Ag-News Director & Multi-Media Journalist

Brian German joined the AgNet West team in 2017. As a radio professional, he has several years of experience working for multiple media outlets throughout the Central San Joaquin Valley. He earned his B.A. degree in mass communication and journalism from California State University Fresno.

German has always had a deep appreciation for the hard work that goes into agricultural production having grown up in the Central Valley. He has spent the last few years working specifically in the ag journalism industry, reporting on topics that affect farmers and highlighting the important role California agriculture plays in feeding the world.
