Here is this week’s ‘Fungicide Resistance Management Minute’ brought to you by Corteva. We’re hearing from Daniel Abruzzini on the importance of applying the recommended label rates with adequate coverage to prevent fungicide resistance.

Q: Daniel, let’s talk about the importance of applying the recommended label rates with adequate coverage to prevent fungicide resistance.

A: Labeled rates is very important while looking at fungicide. If you’re going at the correct labeled rate, and usually would like to see them go on top of the label, usually that helps you with better residual and better control for the diseases that you’re targeting. And so it’s very important. Sometimes the guys try to cut corners, maybe use a little bit lower rate or cut costs a little bit. That can lead into problems, usually lead to resistance down the road and the product not performing correctly. The other thing is coverage. Coverage is huge. We’ll see people try to cut back on water volumes just to save time or speed up [for example] if they see a storm or something coming. But really, getting adequate control and making sure you’re covering the whole entire plant just leads to better control, better residual, and better performance out of the products.

Q:Right. It’s the most cost effective, I think you’re saying, when you are using the product correctly with the right rate and the right coverage, right?

A: That’s correct. Yeah. You just get the best bang for your buck. You get the longest residual, best performance, and good coverage. So you’re getting complete control out of the whole entire plant canopy. So, it’s really important to do all that.

Q: And then you mix that with using the right FRAC groups and you really have good coverage.

A: Yeah, and also a good program as well. I think you set yourself up for good success throughout the season.

Q: And for growers who would like more information, where can? They find that.

A: Corteva.US/fungicideresistance. You can go there to find more information on any of the products that we talked about today.

Thank you for all the information. That was Daniel Abruzzini with this week’s ‘Fungicide Resistance Management Minute’ brought to you by Corteva.
