Here is this week’s ‘Fungicide Resistance Management Minute’ brought to you by Corteva. We’re hearing from Lindee Love, Corteva’s Strategic Account Manager in Northern California on the impact of fungicide resistance.

Q: Lindee, let’s talk about the impact of fungicide resistance. What could fungicide resistance mean for a crop?

A: There’s a limited amount of tools currently on the market. Referring to fungicides, they’re called the Fungicide Resistant Action Committee to kind of differentiate the different groups of fungicides and the mode of actions when you’re targeting these diseases. The grower needs to be a good steward of the fungicides that we currently have on the market and some of the ways that they can do that include rotating the different chemistry groups, not having a back-to-back application of the same group, making sure that they are rotating the different modes of actions or groups versus just the trade names. If you build resistance, then you’re potentially losing that group, and it takes years to bring a fungicide to the market and quite a bit of money as well. And we actually have a new fungicide that’s going to be coming out in a few years, so, and that’s going to be a new mode of action. So, we’re excited about that. So, we’ll add to the current tools that we have.

Q: Lindee, where can folks get more information on all of this?

A: Growers could contact their local Corteva Agriscience representative or visit Corteva.US/fungicideresistance.

Thank you for all the information. That was Lindee Love with this week’s ‘Fungicide Resistance Management Minute’ brought to you by Corteva.
