Week in Review: Record-Setting Port Traffic and Pesticide Residues Remain Low

The cargo processed through the Port of Los Angeles made it the busiest September in the port’s 114-year history. The most recent pesticide report from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration indicates that residue levels remain low. Shifting more conventional acreage into organic may be required to meet the increasing demand for organic products. Walnut growers will soon have an opportunity to vote on whether to continue their federal marketing order.
