U.S. farmers and ranchers rely on hired help to keep up with each growing season. Data from the U.S. Department of Labor accounted for a 29 percent increase in the need for guest workers from the year 2017 to 2018. So far this year, data showed a mere two percent increase in the need for guest workers. According to American Farm Bureau Federation Economist Veronica Nigh, there is a couple of reasons why that need has slowed down, including a maturing visa program or weather restraints.
