California’s egg production during November totaled 360 million, down 15 million from October’s production and down 43 million from November 2013. The average number of layers during the month totaled 15.2 million, down 0.4 million from last month, and down 11 percent from November 2013. Eggs per 100 layers during the month were 2,367, compared to 2,251 a month earlier, and 2,350 in November 2013.
United States egg production totaled 8.31 billion during November 2014, up 3 percent from last year. Production included 7.26 billion table eggs, and 1.06 billion hatching eggs, of which 986 million were broiler-type and 72 million were egg-type. The total number of layers during November 2014 averaged 360 million, up 1 percent from last year. November egg production per 100 layers was 2,308 eggs, up 1 percent from November 2013.
All layers in the United States on December 1, 2014 totaled 362 million, up 1 percent from last year. The 362 million layers consisted of 306 million layers producing table or market type eggs, 53.1 million layers producing broiler-type hatching eggs, and 2.97 million layers producing egg-type hatching eggs. Rate of lay per day on December 1, 2014, averaged 77.2 eggs per 100 layers, up 1 percent from December 1, 2013.
Broiler-type chicks hatched during November 2014 totaled 733 million, up 3 percent from November 2013. Eggs in incubators totaled 651 million on December 1, 2014, up 3 percent from a year ago.
Leading breeders placed 7.59 million broiler-type pullet chicks for future domestic hatchery supply flocks during November 2014, up 5 percent from November 2013.
Egg-type chicks hatched during November 2014 totaled 36.5 million, down 12 percent from November 2013. Eggs in incubators totaled 42.0 million on December 1, 2014, up 2 percent from a year ago.
Domestic placements of egg-type pullet chicks for future hatchery supply flocks by leading breeders totaled 325 thousand during November 2014, up 83 percent from November 2013.
Turkey eggs in incubators on December 1, 2014, in the United States totaled 27.7 million, up 5 percent from December 1, 2013. Eggs in incubators were down 1 percent from the November 1, 2014 total of 28.2 million eggs.
Turkey poults hatched during November 2014, in the United States totaled 22.0 million, up 3 percent from November 2013. Poults hatched were down 7 percent from the October 2014 total of 23.8 million poults.
The 20.5 million net poults placed during November 2014 in the United States were up 2 percent from the number placed during the same month a year earlier. Net placements were down 6 percent from the October 2014 total of 21.7 million.
Nationally, the November market egg price, at $1.37 per dozen, increased 43.6 cents from October and is 21.0 cents above November 2013. The November broiler price, at 64.0 cents per pound, is down 2.0 cents from October but is 8.0 cents above a year ago. The November turkey price, at 77.8 cents per pound, is down 4.4 cents from last month but up 12.2 cents from a year earlier.
