Vaccines for Cattle

Veterinarian Dr. Tim Dawson says modified-live virus vaccines or MLVs offer safety and efficacy against reproductive diseases along with duration of immunity. Some 99-percent of Dawson’s clients with 70,000 head of cattle are using a MLV vaccine program – and their success has been very good. Dawson says MLV vaccines offer reproductive and fetal protection – which ensures cows get bred and stay pregnant.

He encourages producers to work with their veterinarian to fully understand the label instructions for MLV vaccines. Today – only half a percent of animals previously vaccinated with MLV vaccines need to be treated.
