Bud failure has been more of an issue for almond producers this season in northern California and management differs, depending on the age of the orchard.
Cooperative Extension Farm Advisor Emeritus Joseph Connell says in an older orchard, it may not be beneficial to pull a tree that is showing signs of bud failure. Connell says, however, it’s completely the opposite with a younger orchard, and the sooner the better.
