Mckenna Hansen is just one of countless students around the state that work year-round to produce entries into local fairs. This tradition teaches the future of agriculture and many life lessons, and Hansen says it’s something that will always be a part of her life.

Local Fairs Teach Real-Life Lessons

Mckenna Hansen is a student at Kerman High School and is the fourth of her siblings to be part of its FFA program. Hansen had several entries in this year’s Big Fresno Fair, including best in show for her grape, sunflower, walnut and raisin entries. FFA Students who participate in local fairs get an idea of what it takes to produce food on a daily basis. Hansen says she has learned a lot in the process and believes all students should know where their food comes from. Hansen also wants to become a teacher, but believes agriculture will have a big influence in her curriculum.
