The CEO of the Leafy Greens Marketing Agreement, Scott Horsfall, has encouraging words for growers on aligning with the new proposed federal produce safety rules. Sabrina Hill reports.

Horsfall wrote a statement on the CDFA’s Planting Seeds blog, saying he believes the LGMA program meets or exceeds the new rules, but adjustments will be made if necessary. He also points out that the leafy greens industry isn’t alone in adopting a government partnership model for food safety. Just last year, the state’s cantaloupe program was launched, and tomato producers started a program about four years before that.
