The United Fresh Produce Foundation’s Fresh Facts report for the first quarter of 2013 says there was a seven percent increase in average dollar sales, and a two percent volume increase, compared to the start of last year. Fruit increased dollar sales nearly eight percent, with total volume up 1.4 percent. For vegetables, dollar growth is at 5.7 percent and total volume was up 2.1 percent. Organic produce was up significantly, with organic vegetable dollar sales up 14.9 percent and organic fruit dollar sales up 24.4 percent.
