Breeders and growers from all over North America came to the Kern County potato varietal field day in Bakersfield. Participants like Texas A&M Professor of Horticulture, Plant Breeding and Genetics Creighton Miller says it allows them to test breeds that may trend well with consumers. Miller said that smaller sizes and interesting looks are catching the consumers’ eyes but you can’t forget about the actual consumption experience.
