California Farm Bureau (CFBF) President Jamie Johansson addressed the results of the bureau’s latest survey on farm labor. The data from the survey concluded that the labor shortage has been and continues to be a problem for farmers and ranchers in California. Johansson said the state, which produces a large amount of the nation’s fresh fruit and vegetables needs a massive amount of hired help to keep farming operations running during seasonal harvest. However, despite using other tactics such as increasing wages, switching to mechanization and even changing cultivation practices, the issue of finding skilled workers for hire is still present.
