California’s drought task force is meeting next week, and will hear from a number of organizations about how they expect the drought to impact the state’s farmers and ranchers.
The California Department of Food and Agriculture meeting is planned for March 4th, at UC Merced, in the California Room. It will include a Drought Task Force Update and three panel discussions. The first includes representatives from the Merced County Farm Bureau, the California Cattlemen’s Association, the Almond Board of California, and possibly the California Tomato Growers Association. The second panel focuses on drought conditions for farm workers with speakers from the California Rural Legal Assistance and the California Farm Labor Contractors Association. The final panel on drought conditions is with local agencies and associations, including the San Luis and Delta Mendota Water Agency, the Central Valley Grower-Shipper Association and other local water agencies.
