University of California researchers researchers are taking a close look at berries and changes in irrigation regimes. They’re working in four areas around the state including Santa Clara, San Luis Obispo, San Diego and Fresno counties to determine how changes in irrigation reflect in the taste, appearance sugar level and other aspects of strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. The goal is to study ways farmers can reduce the amount of water they’re using and still have marketable fruit.
