Everett Griner talks about pistachios in today’s Agri View. Everett covers some interesting statics about the pistachio crop.
I mention walnuts and pecans quite frequently. They are not the only nuts that make financial statements.
What about pistachios. The major part of this crop is in California. Look at the latest report. It is a $3.6 billion crop. Look again at what growers spend every year. That figure runs almost 2 billion. Now take into consideration that money isn’t spent all in one place. It reaches into nearly every segment of the economy. Most of it goes into nearly 240 acres of land. All of this involves production, labor, and processing. Finally, last year’s crop produced an impact that reached over $3.5 billion.
So, when you talk about tree nuts, remember, there is a lot more than walnuts and pecans to talk about.
