Everett Griner talks about losses suffered by farmers, and farm equipment dealers, to thieves in today’s Agri View.

I read an article recently about farmers’ losses to thieves in my part of the country. My part of the country. It wasn’t about the bale of cotton or a cow. Thieves have gone big time. Tractors, tillage equipment, irrigation. Things like that which are hard to replace. It isn’t just farmers. Farm equipment dealers are victims too. Imagine cutting a heavy wire fence, hooking up to a flatbed trailer, and making off with industrial size mowing equipment. Three of them. Where does stuff like that go? It can’t be sold locally. It isn’t likely can’t be sold in the same state where it’s affected. Now the buyer has to know this stuff is stolen. Progress on stopping thievery is not easy. As a matter of fact it is on the increase. Finding the market is now under study.

That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner.
