Domestic Grapes Still in Demand

You know, grapes are one of our smallest crops. If it were not for California there would not be a grape crop. It isn’t the grape acreagegrapes that makes it a vital crop. It is the by-product. You know what that is? No, not jelly.

Wine. Last year wine shipments from just that one state was worth over $35 billion dollars. Wine was high on list of export items, until the trade issue arose. The result of that issue is still unknown, but it shows just how important grape farming is. It will only get better.

More places sell wine than they did last year. That only leads to one conclusion. More people are drinking it. All signs point to increased sales and consumption next year.

Let me acknowledge now that California is not the only state that produces grapes for wine. But, it is the only one that counts.

That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner…
