Everett Griner talks about consumers misunderstanding the farmer and farming in today’s Agri View.
I think it is fair to assume that one of the most difficult things about being a farmer is trying to grow crops that feed people who think you are trying to kill them. It is because in today’s world not enough people understand agriculture and how it functions.
It is not possible to produce a crop without certain chemicals. But there are those that will not accept that. And without adequate water, even fertilizer and insect chemicals won’t do it. There is nothing simple about growing food and fiber.
And then there are those that can’t fathom the fact that all farmers are not rich. The retail price is not what goes into the farmers’ bank account. So, things are not likely to change.
Being a farmer is being misunderstood, by most people.
That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner.
