Everett Griner talks about animal antibiotic use. The issue is whether to use or not to use antibiotics on animals in today’s Agri View.
Now, this thing about antibiotics has a lot of people confused. Farmers are forbidden to use antibiotics in animal production in a lot of cases. Consumers simply will not buy meat from animals that have been treated with antibiotics. So, what is a farmer going to do when his animals face those problems? Animals do get sick you know. Now, when a child gets sick, what parent would withhold antibiotic treatment in their recovery? Poultry farmers especially have a problem with antibiotics. Because commercial consumers will not buy chickens where antibiotics have been used. And so, I guess it is alright to use antibiotics for cattle, hogs, and other large animals. But not for chickens. It is a problem, so far, that does not have a solution.
That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner…
