Trade markets have been a bit precarious this year, but there are still some reasons for California walnut growers to remain optimistic. “If we were to look back about 12 months ago, we had a number of factors pressuring the market. The good news is we don’t have those market circumstances right now and things are looking positive as we enter the season,” said Jennifer Williams, Marketing Director for Domestic Advertising for the California Walnut Board and Commission. Foreign markets appear to be demanding walnuts, and developments in Chile and Japan should create ideal circumstances for the industry.
