California Farm Bureau President Paul Wenger says California farmers and ranchers have several key issues facing them.
Speaking at the Outlook 2013 Conference by the California Chapter of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, Wenger touched on issues like dairy protests, water, pesticides, and labor. On the topic of dairy, Wenger said there’s no clear solution to the problems facing the industry, but that public protests “like the environmentalists” aren’t the way to fix the problem. A better method for progress, he said, is for farmers to come together and work out an answer.
