California Farm Bureau President Paul Wenger spoke at the Outlook 2013 Conference held by the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. He told the audience that even though most of California’s agriculture is very successful right now, it wasn’t a time to let up on our elected officials.
He added that even though farm gate values are going up, California farmers have a lot of regulatory costs so those values don’t necessarily reflect the farmers’ actual profits.
