Common chickweed is a normally occurring weed in many cropping systems. However, the issue has become more problematic in small grain production systems over the past couple of years. Building on the carbon monitoring network is part of USDA’s overall plan to increase the implementation of climate-smart agricultural practices. A report from USDA’s Economic Research Service shows that the amount of specialty crops enrolled in federal risk management programs has nearly doubled in the last ten years.
