Progress is continuing to be made as the 2018 Farm Bill moves further toward implementation. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is holding a series of listening sessions to garner stakeholder input on several important areas of the farm bill.
“USDA is continuing its work on implementation,” said Vice President of Washington Operations for the National Cotton Council, Reece Langley. “This week they’re looking at taking input on the research title programs as well as the trade title, which includes key programs that Cotton Council International utilizes.”
Langley noted that the Market Access Program and the Foreign Market Development session is of particular interest to the cotton industry. “That’s one session where the National Cotton Council will be participating to highlight the importance of those programs to our industry in promoting cotton exports.”
