Andy LaVigne, president and CEO of the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA), is gearing up for the 56th Vegetable and Flower Seed Conference. This year’s conference is being held January 28–31 at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
Vegetable and Flower Seed Conference This Weekend
This is the conference’s second year working with Disney. The conference will provide attendees with a behind-the-scenes look at different approaches Disney takes on planting flowers inside its parks.
The conference also will include important sessions that attendees will not want to miss. On Sunday, a panel of industry professionals from the University of Florida (UF) will be discussing the agricultural and business environment in Cuba. They will be discussing the evolution of Cuba’s agricultural environment and share some stories from their personal involvement in Cuba. Jack Payne, UF’s senior vice president for agriculture and natural resources, will be moderating this discussion.
On Monday, there will be a session presented by Disney’s Eric Darden, the head of Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival. The session will also include another panel of industry experts, including Harold Browning, chief operations officer of the Citrus Research and Development Foundation.
At working group meetings, participants will be able to provide their expertise on vegetable and flower seed industry issues. LaVigne highly recommends attendance of those meetings.
