One of the most popular sites at the California State Fair is known simply as “The FARM”. It is where fair goers get a glimpse at what is happening in the world of agriculture. The California Department of Food and Agriculture’s Insect Pavilion is always an eye catcher. From bees to butterflies to unwanted pests. The displays are an educational experience everyone can learn from.
The FARM is actually a working farm where food grown is donated to local food banks. The highlight for many is the FARM’s sturgeon petting tanks. Kids especially delight in the hands-on opportunity to actually feel and pet a live pre-historic creature. Surely this first time experience will never be forgotten!
The California Foundation for Ag in the Classroom partners with the California Department of Food and Agriculture on this agriculture showcase to keep The FARM a major attraction to be appreciated by all.
