A pair of soil health workshops planned for next week will feature new ways of managing soil to promote long-term sustainability and reduce the use of chemicals.

The free workshops are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. December 10 at U.C. Davis in the Plant and Environmental Sciences building, and 11:00 a.m. December 11 at the UC West Side Research and Extension Center in Five Points. The UC Conservation Agriculture Systems Innovation program has invited nationally known proponents of soil health to share their experiences and knowledge about soil-supporting practices. Brendon Rockey of Rockey Farms in Center, Colorado will discuss and explain the practices he calls “biotic farming systems.”
