Candi Erick, agricultural statistics administrator with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ (FDACS) Florida Agricultural Statistics Service (FASS), issued the initial citrus crop forecast of the 2016-17 crop season. California Non-Valencia oranges are forecast at forty-two million boxes, five hundred thousand boxes lower than the final number of the 2015-16 season and six million less than the 2010-11 season. Valencia oranges were forecast at eight million five hundred thousand boxes. Two hundred thousand boxes less than ending number of last season and six million less than the 2010-11 season.
