Biological control is an essential part of any pest management system. The agriculture community can help support natural defenses research, starting with students through the Harry Scott Smith Scholarship fund.

How to Help Research

Cooperative Extension Specialist Mark Hoddle has done extensive research on many natural defenses such as the parasitic wasp tamarixia on Asian citrus psyllids. Hoddle says a program in Southern California is looking to keep this research going, and that starts with educating future researchers.
