Farmers and environmentalists around the nation are awaiting a ruling from a judge in Baltimore, Maryland. A poultry farm is accused of violating the federal Clean Water Act by polluting a nearby river.
The environmental group Waterkeeper Alliance filed the case after flying over the farm back in 2009, and taking pictures of what they claimed was an uncovered pile of chicken manure. The group also claims to find water samples containing high bacteria levels. When the pile turned out not to be chicken maneuver, the group said the water pollution must due to fans at the farm. The judge has said he will issue his ruling by the end of the year.
