Meat Export Numbers

The U.S. Meat Federation reports beef and pork exports continued their positive growth in April, increasing by double digits in volume, according to USDA statistics. The April total pork exports rose 11 percent over a year ago volume levels. Value levels rose 26 percent for pork exports. Beef exports increased by volume 15 percent and 24 percent in value. Philip Seng, USMEF president and CEO, says we are still seeing demand grow in most of our key markets and remain steady in others. Higher prices in the global market drove up the values as international customers are willing to pay higher prices for larger volumes.
