Growers have the opportunity to learn about topics like bee health and availability, advances in irrigation technology and gopher control at a field day coming up this week.
A number of experts are getting together for the Nickels Soil Lab field day in Arbuckle. They’re talking to nut growers about issues important to them – from bees to husk flies, fertilizing to navel orangeworm. UC Berkeley entomologist Robert Van Steenwyk is one of the experts on deck to speak. His topic – a new spray technique for walnut husk fly control.
UC Cooperative Extension Farm Advisor David Doll is also on the schedule. He’ll talk to growers about the fertilizer needs of young almond trees.
The field day is Wednesday from 8:30 to 12:15, at the Nickels Soil Lab in Arbuckle. For more information, click here.
