Nominations are being accepted for this year’s California Leopold Conservation Award. The Sand County Foundation presents the Leopold Conservation Award recognizes landowners who inspire others with their dedication to land, water and wildlife habitat management on private, working land. Nominations may be submitted on behalf of a landowner who has demonstrated extraordinary achievement in voluntary conservation, or landowners may also nominate themselves.
The application deadline is Wednesday, July 15. Applications will be reviewed by an independent panel of agricultural and conservation leaders. The first California Leopold Conservation Award recipient was selected in 2006 and last year’s winner was Rominger Brothers Farms of Winters. The Sand County Foundation, in conjunction with Sustainable Conservation and the California Farm Bureau Federation (CFBF), will present the crystal award, as well as $10,000 at CFBF’s annual meeting in December.
