Eliminating broomrape weed now may prevent what nightshade has become. Retired UC Cooperative Extension Advisor Gene Miyao believes the tomato industry should look at banding together to eliminate the parasitic weed broomrape from California before it develops into a widespread issue. Miyao said the situation reminds him of a similar situation earlier in his career where the industry was not proactive.
