New Raisin Variety Being Tested
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently released a new grape variety for raisin production that can dry on the vine. This new raisin variety could potentially save growers money by reducing labor costs and drying expenses. USDA is having the Kearney Agriculture and Research Extension Center test the new variety. Center Director Jeff Dahlberg says they are excited about the potential of the new variety, but several trials need to be done before they can recommend the product to growers.
