Cathy Isom tells us about a day dedicated to lovers of the world’s most widely consumed alcoholic beverage. Beer. That’s coming up on this Land of Ours.
National Beer Lover’s Day
National Beer Lover’s Day is observed annually on September 7th. Not to be confused with National Beer Day which is celebrated every April 7th. Whether its an ale or a lager, Beer is the world’s most widely consumed alcoholic beverage and the third-most popular drink overall, after water and tea. It is thought by some to be the oldest fermented beverage. Its bittersweet taste entices our taste buds and makes us fall in love even more.
A beer lover or enthusiast is called a cerevisaphile.
Beer and the process of brewing beer may predate known history. As varied as the processes, grains, and flavors, beer continues to change and evolve over time. We do know there were a few beer lovers and patriots among the nation’s founders. The first President of the United States recorded a recipe for brewing beer in his notes. And, Samuel Adams holds a place in both beer and tea history in this country.
