Determining exactly what freeze damage the almond industry will see from frigid temperatures during bloom won’t be possible until the end of the season, if at all. Yara’s Director of Agronomy Services for the Western United States Steve Petrie said growers should manage trees to their full potential despite visible damage during bloom. He said trees can adjust where they use their resources meaning final yield weight might not show a difference. Petrie also reminded growers that what they do this year sets up their trees for next season.
