Cathy Isom tells us about the fruits and veggies that you should also be feeding your dogs. That story’s ahead on This Land of Ours.
Fruits and Veggies for Doggies
In many households, dogs are much a part of the family as they are a pet.
While they require a good amount of exercise, clean fur coats and a healthy and nutritious diet – that diet may also include some of the foods – fruits and vegetables, of course, that we like to eat, too! It’s good for his teeth, coat, bones, eyesight, and overall health.
Fruits and vegetables can provide your dog with essential vitamins and minerals naturally rather than in supplement form. Whether you feed your dog fresh fruit or vegetable slices as a snack or are incorporating some into their existing commercial dog food, Here are the 8 fruits and vegetables to keep your dog happy and healthy:
- Apples – just be sure to remove any seeds or the core to prevent choking.
- Carrots – Good for skin, eyesight, and for cleaning teeth and gums.
- Sweet Potatoes – good for heart health
- Celery – freshens doggie breath!
- Watermelon
- Green Beans
- Bok Choy
- Pumpkin
Feed these fruits and vegetables to your dog raw, or slightly steamed. Just don’t add any seasonings or oils. And remember to remove any seeds or core that could potentially pose a choking hazard.
