After California was heavily engulfed with fires over the last two years, there was a big push for forest management and wildfire relief to be added to the new Farm Bill. United States Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue, several undersecretaries state representatives and even President Donald Trump made the visit to the California wildfires regions and saw the devastation for themselves. During their visit, they made it evident something needed to be done and went back to the board for last minute decision makings. California Farm Bureau’s Manager of Federal Policy Josh Rolph said though it was highly unlikely something would be placed under the Forestry Title of the Farm Bill he said it’s good the conversation got started.
