The National Cotton Council is holding 49 meetings across the US for farmers in the 15 cotton belt states. The meetings are focused on educating farmers on the Agriculture Act of 2014.
NCC Farm Bill Meetings
The Council says the Farm Bill will help farmers manage risk with a crop insurance product tailored to cotton production. The comprehensive five-year farm bill includes provisions important to stability too with a transition program for the 2014 crop year as enactment comes too late for USDA and the private sector to offer the new insurance product until 2015. These provisions also are an important step in achieving a final resolution of the long-standing Brazil World Trade Organization case.
