Cathy’s intro: A do it yourself mini greenhouse ideal for a patio or balcony. That’s coming up on This Land of Ours.
Building your own greenhouse doesn’t have to be a lot of work or cost a lot of money. And if you are short on space, such as only having a patio or balcony, you can still grow your own veggies and herbs.
One of the cheapest and easiest ways to accomplish this is by using tomato cages and some plastic wrap. This solution is very portable. You can use it indoors or outdoors, and move it around as necessary. Just plop it over the plant that needs shelter or extra humidity. It’s also adaptable.
Any cage-like structure can be wrapped in any flexible transparent membrane, like clear plastic bags or bubble wrap. Make sure to poke a few holes in the plastic to provide some aeration. You can also leave a little space between the ground and the bottom of the makeshift greenhouse for air to circulate.
