California Women for Agriculture (CWA) State President Lynn Figone announced a video contest for California FFA members titled: “Telling Your Truth.” Figone and her fellow CWA state board members are encouraging the students to submit a video to highlight the importance of agriculture education.

“As a former member of the FFA, I am truly honored and thankful for all the skills and knowledge I’ve gained through such an esteemed organization,” said Figone. “I’d like to see FFA members tell their truth through a homemade video, and explain to the world why the FFA has been such an integral part of their lives.”

Since its beginning in 1928, the FFA has been dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students through agricultural education and continues to play an important role in students’ personal and professional development.

“If you would have told me that my involvement in the FFA would lead me to where I am today, I would have thought you were crazy,” said Figone. “I hope this project will bring greater awareness to this organization, as it is important to the future of agriculture.”

CWA members are dedicated to promoting agriculture literacy and encourage today’s youth to pursue a career in the field of agriculture. With over 2,000 members across the state, CWA is always looking for new ways to highlight the importance of agriculture education.

All video submissions should be homemade and should include the hashtag, #tellingyourtruth. Submissions are due by March 23, 2015 to californiawomenforagriculture@gmail.com. Cash prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place winners at the annual California State FFA Convention in April.
