Everyone throws them away. But, Cathy Isom lets you know why you shouldn’t throw away those citrus peels, and the many uses for them. That’s coming up on This Land of Ours.
The next time you buy oranges, limes, tangerines, grapefruits, lemons, or mandarins, don’t throw away those peels!
There are so many household uses for those citrus peels that can helped if they are just thrown in the trash. One example is compost. Another use, in culinary adventures. They can also be used for cleaning, air fresheners, and also medicinal purposes. The extracted oil from orange peels and other citrus is commonly used in baking, but practitioners like it for mood-lifting and anti-inflammatory characteristics. You could also use it for making things like a citrus sugar scrub by combining it with other things in the kitchen, like avocados and cucumbers.
There are so many creative, all-natural and useful ways to take the peels we are so used just easily tossing away.
