Cathy Isom has a few suggestion about what to do with your Christmas tree after the holidays. That’s coming up on This Land of Ours.
Before we know it the holidays will be over and we’ll be faced with the task of taking down the Christmas tree. Rather than just dragging it to the curb for a ride to the landfill, here are some alternative ways of disposing of the tree.
Christmas trees can be cut up into garden projects, as the trunks make good borders, the limbs make good tomato stakes, and the needles make good mulch. They can also simply be broken into pieces and left to rot around trees. Or, placing the annual Christmas tree in a pond makes for a great fish habitat and feeding ground.
It’s also a good idea to check with your local waste management company to see what services are provided for Christmas Tree pickup.
Just remember to completely remove all of the ornaments, lights, tinsel, and the tree stand before recycling your tree.
