Every year on Thursday, April 19th America celebrates garlic. Whether its enjoying it in a tasty meal, or in a treat such as ice cream, or taking in a garlic festival throughout the country.
Also called the stinking rose, because of its pungent smell and taste, garlic is rich in protein, Vitamins A, B-1 and C and contains essential minerals such as calcium, magnesium and iron. It also contains 17 different amino acids.
Garlic is also known as nature’s wonder drug because of its wide-reaching medicinal properties, in the treatment and prevention of disease. It has been credited extending human longevity, preventing certain cancers, lowering cholesterol levels, reversing high blood pressure, resisting the common cold and overcoming fatigue.
