Over the last few years, cantaloupe production in California has changed and new areas of the state are starting to see melon production. Industry leaders say they got complacent and needed to see a change to combat water issues.
Industry Had Become Complacent
Legend produce owner Barry Zwillinger says he has been experimenting with growing cantaloupe in new areas of California that aren’t as deprived of water as the southern region.
