Statistics issued this week by the U.S. Agriculture Department show that for 2012 – nearly half the fresh vegetables grown in the United States came from California. And on top of that, California has more than two-thirds of the processed vegetables grown in the nation. Despite those statistics, the dollar value of the vegetables grown in California was down about five percent from the year before. However, the on-farm value of our vegetables in 2012 was still just above $6 billion dollars
