Some California avocados are being recalled out of ‘an abundance of caution’. Henry Avocado Corporation announced this past weekend they are voluntarily recalling California avocados they packed and distributed to six states. Both conventional and organic avocados are included in the voluntary recall and aside from California were sent to Arizona, Florida, New Hampshire, North Carolina, and Wisconsin.
The company issued the recall after a standard inspection found listeria in samples taken at their facility. There have been zero reports of illnesses so far. The company started packing avocados in late January. The conventional avocados in the recall are labeled with “Bravocado” stickers and the organic fruit has “organic” and “California” stickers.
AgNet West reached out to Henry Avocado Company for comment. The company said in a statement, “We would like to reiterate that Everyone at Henry Avocado understands that our priority must always be to provide safe and healthy avocados for consumers. This voluntary recall is a reflection of our commitment to put the health of our consumers first.”
